How to Fix Error Files Missing from Job Error in uTorrent?
uTorrent is among the top torrent downloading applications. However, there have been many reports that users face an error message popping up “Files missing from Job Error“, even when torrents are still downloading. The most common reason for this error is either misplacing or re-naming the file that was being downloaded. This issue mostly occurs due to a mistake on the part of the user.
uTorrent
uTorrent automatically creates a local file on your computer after you initiate the download process. Even though the file is still not functional, it is still created and completed as the client downloads the remaining fragments. This error message points out that it cannot find the file anymore to add to.
Put Misplaced Files Back in Original Folder
The files can get accidentally misplaced by you during some other task on your computer. uTorrent doesn’t have the file mapped in its application and requires you to make sure the directory of the file is not changed in the download process. uTorrent also does not recognize the file as it is not in the saved folder.
To solve the problem, simply use the File Explorer search or Windows search to search for the file. Once you find the file, you can put it back in the original folder (you can also manually revert the directory of the file if you know where you have moved it).
To find the original folder, follow the following steps:
Re-install the Application
There are instances where either the downloaded files or uTorrent’s program files are corrupt. This can cause even the completed download to not be recognized properly and cause the current error message. The simple solution is to re-install the software and not save any preferences this time. First, make sure that you uninstall the currently installed program:
Set New Download Location
If you have intentionally moved the file to a new place, then you can set the default download location to the new location in the preferences of that file. The remaining download will be commenced in this new download location and the error message will disappear.
Force Re-Check
The issue can oftentimes occur, due to a break in internet connection or some internal bug in the software because of which uTorrent is unable to locate the file. The solution, in this case, is to force re-check the file. A force re-check will make uTorrent to take a look at the directory again and see if the file is present.
Rename the File or Folder
You may have accidentally or intentionally changed the name of the file or folder. This causes uTorrent to think that the file has been removed from the location. If this is the case, you can copy/paste the original name to the file and hence solve the problem.
Error files missing from job error in uTorrent [FIX]
Peer-to-peer file transfer lies on stable grounds which implies that people who download a certain file, will share it with others.
And there’s a known, unspoken agreement between the internet compatriots. No one likes leechers and it’s quite important to seed in order to repay your debt.
Even though you won’t have any repercussions if you decide not to seed after the download ends.
Luckily, most users decide to spend extra mileage and increase the download speed for those who fancy downloading the same file. Kudos to them!
However, sometimes seeding can be abruptly stopped, which is followed by the error that says Files Missing from Job. Please Recheck.
It’s not hard to guess why this error appears in the first place. These are the likely scenarios that caused the error:
If the uTorrent client is active, you won’t be able to do any of the above-mentioned operations, but if you closed it in the meanwhile, there’s a chance you were able to rename, delete or move files to another directory.
And, logically, if that’s the case, uTorrent can’t reach them and continue with seeding.
Because of that, make sure to transfer back all moved files, restore them from the Recycle Bin or restore the original name, in order for the client to recognize them and continue with seeding.
In addition, if the client is still unable to recognize them, right-click the troubled file under the uTorrent‘s download list and click Force Re-check.
That should be enough to get you going. If you have any additional questions regarding the subject, make sure to tell us in the comments section below.

How to Fix Error Files Missing from Job Error in uTorrent
Stuck with an “Error Files Missing from Job” message on a file you are downloading using uTorrent?
uTorrent is an excellent platform for downloading torrent files on your computer. However, there have been recent reports from several users that they are encountering an “Error Files Missing from Job” message while downloading files.
The truth is, this error occurs because uTorrent creates a folder that contains the files that you want to download on your computer, even if it is not yet finished. However, when these files are not yet ready for use, some users tend to delete these files since it is not usable or transfer it to another location, which triggers the “Error Files Missing from Job” message.
Today, we will show you a few steps that you can follow on how to fix this kind of problem when downloading files on uTorrent.
1. Put Files Back in Original Folder.
The first thing that you can do to try and fix the “Error Files Missing from Job” message on uTorrent is to put back the file to its original folder if you transferred it to another location.
It is possible that uTorrent is still looking for the file on the default download folder, which would not be there since you have already moved it.
Check out the steps below to guide you through the process.
After moving the files back into the original download location, reopen uTorrent and try downloading the file to see if the error message is already fixed.
However, if the steps above did not resolve the issue, you can try setting a new download location for uTorrent.
2. Set a New Default Download Location.
If moving back the file to the default download location did not work, you can try setting the default download location of uTorrent to the folder where you have moved the file that you are downloading.
To do this, you can follow the steps below.
Next, restart the uTorrent client and try starting the download of the file to see if the error message would still occur.
3. Force Re-Check the File.
Force Re-Check is a handy little option inside the uTorrent client that would scan the file that you are downloading to check what files are still missing and automatically download it for you.
To perform this, you can follow the steps below.
Now, try starting the download of the file to see if the “Error File Missing from Job” would still occur after checking the content of the file that you are downloading.
On the other hand, if you are still having problems, you can proceed to the next method below.
4. Reinstall uTorrent on Your Computer.
If your uTorrent client is acting weird and not functioning properly, it is possible that some of its installation files got corrupted during use.
It is also possible that you might have changed some of its settings, which causes your download to fail. In this case, it is best that you just reinstall the software on your computer since the installation file is not that big.
To do this, follow the steps below.
Now, go to uTorrent’s website to download and install the client again on your computer. After that, try downloading the file again on your computer to see if the issue would still occur.
5. Rename the File.
The last thing that you can do if uTorrent is having problems downloading a file is to rename the folder of the file you are downloading.
It is possible that the download folder of the file has a different name to the torrent file that you are downloading. This can cause some confusion for the client as it tries to find a folder that has the same name as the torrent file that you are downloading.
To rename the download folder of the file, check out the step-by-step guide below.
This wraps up our guide on how to fix this kind of issue with the uTorrent client. If you have other ideas that may help others in fixing the “Error File Missing from Job” error on uTorrent, kindly share it in the comment section below.

After trying the FilePlanet download (still at 15 hours estimated. ) I thought I’d try a torrent.
Bittorrent, and now utorrent, both give the the message «Error: Files missing from job. Please recheck».
I’m completely new to torrents, so if I’m doing something daft, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Comments
I’ve been running the torrent w/ no problem.
64% complete after 7 hrs
Do I need to do any more than paste the URL into the «Add torrent from URL» box?
Apart from press «OK» I mean.
I’m using the URL for the torrent given on the official download page.

Thanks, DaWookie, for the advice there. Seems to be working now, although not very quickly (very few connections available). 1d to estimated completion!
Still, I’ll get there eventually!
It’ll speed up over time. Thats how P2P/ torrents work.
Glad to hear its working again.
I’ve managed to add some trackers to it. Here is a list of trackers that work:
A line needs to separate each once for the trackers to work. Perhaps if more of us add trackers that have the 100% it will be faster? I dunno, this is the first time I’ve ever added trackers to a torrent file.
I believe uTorrent can work without trackers (not all clients can).
You should make sure you limit the bandwidth though. Right click the downloading torrent and choose Bandwidth Allocation. set you Upload limit to about half of your total upload.
My ISP gives me 448 which is about 40kbps so I set my upload limit to between 10-20 kbps.
The torrent installs without a hitch. I deleted my previous install and reinstalled the game via the torrent version and it works just fine.
