In this guide, we will show you the steps to fix the failed to mount /vendor (invalid argument) error in TWRP Recovery. Every device comes with a few specific partitions. These include the system, boot, recovery (in A-only device), userdata, vbmeta, vendor among others. The system partition contains the OS, then in A/B partition devices, the boot also acts as a recovery partition. Likewise, userdata could be considered as the partition that beholds all your important data.
However, there’s no universal rule as such that each device should have an N number of partitions. As already mentioned, many devices don’t have the recovery partition and hence boot takes care of installing a custom recovery. However, if you are stuck with this error and aren’t able to carry out the desired task, then only you should consider fixing it. And turns out there are a couple of workarounds that are known to rectify the same.
Let’s check out two such methods that will help you fix the failed to mount /vendor (invalid argument) error in TWRP. Install a Treble Supported Rom and Fix Failed to Mount /Vendor
The first fix requires you to flash a treble supported custom ROM onto your device. Here’s how:
Check for Project Treble Support
First and foremost, install the Treble Check App from Play Store. Now launch it and if you see a tick mark next to Project Treble with the supported keyword underneath it, then you are good to proceed ahead.
Download Treble Supported Rom
The next step then involves flashing a Treble Supported Rom onto your device. For that, you need to find a ROM that belongs to this domain. Mokee ROMs might work perfectly in such scenarios [Download Link].
Install TWRP Recovery
Once you have downloaded the ROM of your choice, make sure that you have a working TWRP installed onto your device. Most of you would already have it installed. If not, then refer to our detailed guide to Install TWRP Recovery on Android.
Boot to TWRP Recovery

Flash Treble Supported ROM via TWRP
Each ROM has a different set of flashing steps, I am listing out the generalized set of instructions. If there is any additional step (or file that needs to be flashed), make sure to check out the ROM/developer’s page. Furthermore, the below steps will wipe off all the data, so take a backup beforehand (Nandroid is recommended).
Treblize the Device and Fix Failed to mount /vendor
You may also treblize your device, by flashing the ZIP module for your device. Unfortunately, getting hold of the same is no easy task. As of now, I was able to fin the module for the OnePlus 5T, you may download it from here: treblizer_cheeseburger.zip. For other devices, you may search in XDA Forums.

Have you tried the dload method to flash back to stock or the huawei updater and hisense? Then redo everything from unlocking the bootloader to installing twrp and root. From there try to restore your backup. As far as i know this should work if all else fails, having done the exact same thing myself as you previously.
In the future when installing a custom rom the only partitions you need to wipe for a clean install are

Internal Storage (optional)

Only if you were on b378 before you messed up the phone or plan on flashing a b378 based ROM. Otherwise you will have to download a stock firmware and extract the boot.img from there. You can find stock firmwares in this thread:

Same Problem with Huawei Honor 8 FRD-L04
Having the same issue only without these vendor, version, etc mounting, nothing will flash. including stock. Bootloader works, TWRP works, cant mount, repair, or format partitions. This happened after flashing Revolution I believe. If anyone has a walk through for a potential fix, I’m all ears!

Every few days somebody opens such a thread, having the phone similarly bricked. When asking what did you do, it turns out that he was on some of the AOSP based custom ROMs (there are couple of them), and he wanted to go back to stock, or he wanted to try/flash to the other custom ROM, etc.
If they don’t provide such info, why people do not first ask there (before bricking the phone)? IMO, developers of those custom ROKs would know the answer, if asked (supposidely they test their custom ROMs on various configurations and they have to go back to stock and forth to custom).

Hi guys. i was an lineage but decided to go back to stock rom. Now twrp can’t install the rom-zip.
Message: «unable to update logical partition: /system_root» (same meassage with /vendor and /product)
It seems that the system partition is missing ’cause twrp can’t wipe it.
Anyone a idea how to fix?

I’m stucked as well. From MIUI12 Android 10 I flashed
[ArrowOS] [R] Xiaomi Mi 10t Lite [gauguin] [NIGHTLIES] [UNIFIED]
to be on Android R and to flash
[ROM][11.0][gauguin] Havoc-OS 4.4 [OFFICIAL] [21-04-2021].
So I could install ArrowOS but since now I cant flash Havoc / Magisk / Gapps via TWRP or OrangeFox.
It always says
Failed to mount ‘/system_root’ (No such file or directory)
Failed to mount ‘/vendor’ (Invalid argument)
Failed to mount ‘/product’ (No such file or directory)
I’m sitting and searching for a solution since 5 hours..wtf. i was close to throw the phone against the wall..

I tried to flash «Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite Latest Europe Stable Version Fastboot». During the flash this error message popped up
Strangely it somehow worked because I’m having MIUI12 with Android 11 on the device. so after 5 hours back and forward, I’m at the situation as before, what a waste of time. If someone can help me, I’m willing to do another try.

It finally worked. Here were my steps of going crazy, but finally reached the goal:

Многим наверное интересно, почему есть тред с кастомными прошивками и рекавери, но нет информации о разблокировке загрузчика. Ниже будет небольшое FAQ, почему так получилось.
Как мне разблокировать загрузчик, где взять инструкции?
Появился неофициальный способ по ссылке выше/из шапки, производится со сторонней помощью, а официальный способ доступен только ограниченному кругу лиц, имеющему отношение к Meizu или имеющим доступ к их внутренней сети.
У меня в «меню разработчика» есть пункт «Заводская разблокировка», разве это не значит, что я могу разблокировать устройство?
Нет, не значит, этот пункт пустышка и ничего не делает.
Тогда как это происходит?
Технически процесс ничем не отличается от прошивки через QFIL (Qualcomm Snapdragon) или SPFT (Mediatek). Оговорка делается на то, что Meizu закрыли все пути авторизации на их сервере для сторонних юзеров, поэтому на сегодняшний день без определённого уровня доступа к их внутренней сети не получить и доступ к возможности зашить инженерный образ системы, который автоматически разблокирует наш загрузчик.
UPD: теперь есть неофициальный метод. См. Выше.
И как мне разблокировать загрузчик/найти человека с нужным доступом?
