Hello together,
i hope you all are doing well.
According to the following situation and using the example of Samsung Galaxy S9 Duos, SM-G960F/DS with CSC=DBT,
i want to describe, how i solved the problem «Screen lock was already changed, try again with the new screen lock».
This method only works on «ROOTED» phones or on phones with installed TWRP (no rooting required).
I have 2 identical Samsung Galaxy S9 Duos with by myself debloated and customized stock rom and installed TWRP.
Let me name them phone-1 and phone-2.
I have created a TWRP backup from the data partition of phone-1, where the lock screen type was «None» or «Wipe»,
and restored this TWRP data backup on phone-2.
I rebooted phone-2 and wanted to change the lock screen type to «PIN» but then i got the
message «Screen lock was already changed, try again with the new screen lock».
So i thought, due to the data restore from phone-1, that there pretends something in phone-2, that it behaves like phone-1.
I was pretty sure that there might be a setting, a file, several files, a folder or several folders,
which prevents phone-2 from changing the lock screen type to «PIN» or «Password».
I rebooted phone-2 to TWRP and after searching a long time through the complete /data partition
using the TWRP filemanager, i detected the following 3 files in the directory /data/system :
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
I have deleted only the first file «locksettings.db» using the TWRP filemanager and after the system reboot,
the setting of the screen lock type worked fine again. I have tested it with type «PIN» and «Password».
If this still doesn’t work for you, then you can delete all the above 3 mentioned «locksettings» files.
After the restart of the phone, these 3 above mentioned «locksettings» files were recreated in the /data/system folder.
At the moment, i do not know, which other impacts the remove of these 3 files does have,
but until now, i do not face any malfunctions or errors. If you find them, please report them here.
For users with rooted phones, the removing of the files can be done for example wth the app «Root Explorer»
or any other filemanager app which can handle the data partition on rooted phones.
I don’t know, whether this method is working on other models from Samsung or from other brands.
I hope, i can help a lot of users here solving this issue with this guide.

Latest firmware on Lenovo L78071, after setting up screen lock (password/PIN/pattern) there is a toast says «Screen lock was already changed, try again with the new screen lock», and the screen lock method is not changed. On a legacy (Android P) firmware, the setup will success, but when trying to unlock it won’t recognize the password set and always says «Wrong password».
If I keep the force encryption, the screen lock seems to work, but then the TWRP won’t be able to decrypt the /data partition and asks me for password. Is there any workaround? Thanks.

How about Android 9? I tried but it keeps saying wrong password when unlocking. If there is no workaround maybe I ‘ll keep the data partition encrypted, which renders the TWRP useless.

I can disable force encryption, but doing so will corrupt the screen lock function of system, making it impossible to set PIN/fingerprint.
EDIT: I’m not sure which «disable force encryp_dm_verity_quota» you are referring to, if it’s this one then no it won’t even work. I formatted data and flashed it, still being encrypted when booting. The customized TWRP I am using has a build in force encryption disabler and it does work, but again after disabling I am facing the screen lock issue.

We’re seeing this same problem on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) [SM-T290] too. No one has managed support for their file-based encryption yet, so we disable force encryption in the fstab with Multidisabler. The consequence is that you can’t secure the device with any screen lock due to this bug.

Actually I don’t have this device anymore. Seems like that problem cannot be bypassed. I’m gonna close this for now.

Screen Lock Issue
I was able to unlock my screen this morning with PIN and Fingerprint but then it stopped working telling me that my PIN was incorrect.
The only option was to Factory reset my phone but now when I want to setup a Screen Lock and add a PIN I get the following error:
Screen Lock PIN has already changed. Try again with the new screen lock
I cannot set any Screen Lock so my phone is open and vulnerable, has anybody had this and solved it?
Screen Lock is secured by Knox so is there away to delete a PIN in Knox?

I have just received the news that the patch is ready to be sent.
It will be available for Beta users and also for users that rolled back to Android 9.
For now, it will be available as a regular FOTA update (So please make sure to go to Settings > Software update > Download and install).
We are also working on forcing an update on the device for users that have the screen locked but can’t (or don’t want to) the factory data reset.

[Solved] Cannot Change Lock Screen Picture on Windows 10
To change lock screen for Windows 10 is the habit for some people, but it is also common when you encounter Windows 10 can’t change lock screen as some settings are managed by your organization. Or sometimes, it shows as We cannot set this one as the lock screen Windows 10.
People would like to change Windows lock screen in Start > Settings >Personalization > Lock Screen. While just as the complaint from a user saying “I can’t change my lockscreen photo on my Windows 10 desktop PC”, you are confused to fix can’t change Windows 10 lock screen image.
Way 1: Use Registry Editor to Make Windows Change Lock Screen and Login Image
The most potential reason why you can’t change lock screen background image lies in that you have mistakenly changed the setting to lock screen Windows 10 in the registry editor.
1. Press Windows + R to open the Run box and then enter gpedit.msc in the box. Finally, hit OK to navigate to the Local Registry Editor.
2. In Registry Editor, go as the path:
3. Under Personalization, on the right pane, find out the sub-branch Prevent changing lock screen and login image and right click it to Edit.
4. In Prevent changing lock screen and login image window, tick for Not configured and then click Apply and OK to take effects.
At this moment, you can turn off your computer and login in again, you can easily find can’t change lock screen image in Windows 10 disappeared and you can set the lock screen as you like.
Way 2: Do a Clean Boot to Enable Changing Lock Screen
If you are still unable to change lock screen for Windows 10, 8.1, besides the last resort to reset Windows 10, you would better at first clean boot your computer to see if helps to fix Windows 10 lock screen not changing.
The clean boot would enable you to start Windows 10 with a minimal set of programs and processes, thus granting convenience for you to solve cannot change lock screen Windows 8, as well.
1. Type in msconfig in the search box and stroke Enter to open the System Configuration window.
2. Under the General tab, choose Selective startup and then uncheck the box of Load startup items.
And then click OK to save changes.
3. Under Service tab, check the box of Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all.
Then you are able to do a clean boot on Windows 10, just following the on-screen steps.
Those are the two main solutions targeting at removing lock screen won’t change Windows 10. You can try them one by one until you are capable of changing Windows 10 login screen picture or photo or image.
