Uplay
Uplay

Problem authenticating ownership
I purchased the crew a while ago from steam, I had a different Uplay account then. When I made a new Uplay account it was easy to switch on Far Cry 5 but when I tried to do that on the crew 2 the same message keeps popping up. Everytime I try to start the game it says «There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product.»
I’m not able to switch back to the old Uplay account.
Let’s say you have 2 Steam and 2 uPlay accounts: SteamA and SteamB, as well as uPlayA and uPlay B. Both As and Bs are linked.
If you are logged into SteamA and uPlayB and try to launch the game, it will give the errormessage you mentioned.
Sounds like The Crew 2 was already registered on your older uPlay account, therefore you need to find the login info for that again.
You can actually check which Steamaccount is linked to your uPlay by logging in to https://account.ubisoft.com, but the problem is that you would need your old accountinfo for that to begin with.
i got same problem but far cry 5, even ubsoft didnt solve it
Please refrain from bumping old threads in future please. This thread is over a year old and we have a dedicated forum for Far Cry 5.
This error you’re seeing is because you’re launching the game whilst signed in to a Ubisoft account where the game hasn’t been activated.
Are you aware of any other Ubisoft accounts you own? If so I would recommend signing in on those and trying again. When you’re on the correct account you will no longer see this error.
If you’re not sure of any other accounts please open a support case with us. You can reach us either through the support website by opening a live chat session or alternatively through our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter and they will be able to create a support case for you.
Once the case has been opened please attach screenshots from one of the folders below to the case, do not post those images here.

Well, I do need help. Although I think I may know what is causing the issue. I have 2 UPlay accounts and I brought The Division through Steam. I may have had my UPlay without The Division on online while I clicked «play» in Steam thus replicating this problem.
Help would be appreciated, sooner the better, I’m addicted to 1.3 patch 😉
Edit: problem rectified itself some how! Problem fixed!
I have the same problem but it aint resolving
Resolved by itself
Still getting the error «There was a problem authentication the ownership of this pro
I got this error yesterday but have not been able to get passed the Ownership issue. I was playing the game as normal, was doing a side mission with a mate and we both got stuck on a ladder going down into the subway area, the game glitched and could not even move the mouse or press escape, etc so had to end the game via task manager, so a dirty shutdown, could this have caused the issue?
I have followed Uplay support advice and deleted the file in the ownership folder in the cache but no joy!
Could this be a Steam issue? I am using The Division via a Steam Shared library from a housemates collection that I have access to and I log in to UPlay with my housmates Uplay login.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi enforcer, welcome to the forums. The two others in this thread have said now that the problem resolved itself. Is this problem still happening for you? If so, I’d recommend you re-open your support ticket and continue the conversation with the support rep who was troubleshooting with you previously.

There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product.
I have not played Rainbow six siege for a while.
I just finished reinstalling it.
I tried to open the game via steam, the uplay page popped up, asking me if I want to bind the following product to my ubisoft account. I cliked yes.
Now it says that it is having a problem authenticating the ownership of this product.
I tried changing my ubisoft password as a couple forum were suggesting. Didn’t work.
Hi there. Are you sure you are logged into the correct Uplay account that has R6S on it? The account you used to post this post does not actually have R6S activated on it, which means that it was activated on another Uplay account. To try to recover the account with R6S on it, you can contact the Ubisoft Support Facebook, Twitter, or make a ticket. Hope this helps
starting game: there was a problem authenticating the ownership
Same here didnt play anno 2205 for a whiel and now didnt work:
Starting game
There was a problem autheticating the ownership of this product.
but one window before it checked my dlcґs correct to the game.
i buyed it over steam
I got the same problem with the crew. The game was activated on my first account, but after a long time without playing, when i launch the game on steam, uplay asked me if i wanted to activate the game on the account. I said yes, but i saw after that the account wasn’t my principal account( that was a secondary account without game on it, i don’t remember having it).
On my principal account, i can download the game, it’s on my library, like all my other game i paid. I can see the key. But i can’t launch the game because of the «Authentication problem»
I can play the game on my other account, but i don’t want, i don’t have my save on it.
I tried with other game, when i launch them, uplay ask if i want to activate the game. I say no, and after that the other game work.
But the crew don’t work, because activation is on the other account.
Different uplay account
Is it possible that I loged via facebook when I was asked to open uplay the first time I open R6S via steam?
Because I only really have 1 email address that I use so I don’t see how I could have 2 Uplay and not notice it.. Might be a possibility tho. As you are Ubisoft Support Staff is there something that I can provide you related to my copy of R6S on steam so that you can see what Uplay acount is linked to it?
Thank you very much for your help.
Hi everyone!
To find help recovering your accounts, you can contact the Ubisoft Support Facebook or Twitter support pages with your account information. They can attempt to help you find your accounts. Thanks!
Restart both clients. It should work fine.
Had the same error, restarting uplay solved the issue for me

Please can somebody help me with this problem? When I run the game, ubisoft gives me this message. I had been watching videos on Youtube and searching information on Google but I couldn’t run it. I bought it in 2018 and now I’m wanting to play but I can’t.
I saw my email to search my verification code but I don’t have one. I have an email of 2018 and it gives me 5 codes with 6 numbers each one. Also I reinstalled Ubisoft and also I verified integrity of games files but it still don’t work.
Sorry for my english, my main language is Spanish.
Moving to player support!
This error usually means you launched the game originally whilst logged in to a different Ubisoft account.
Please make sure you are logged in to the correct account on Uplay before trying to launch the game.
If you are struggling to get it to launch still and need further help we’ll need to speak to you on a support ticket [http//%26quot%3Bhttps] / live chat or social media private messages so we can investigate it and find the correct account with your help.
Before contacting us privately, please can you go to this location on your PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache\ownership
Can you see more than 1 profile ID here for more than 1 account?
If so, please can you copy and paste all the profile ID’s on to your private message to us, as that will help us find the account it’s linked to.
You can also provide a screenshot of what’s in the folder too and we can find the accounts with the profile ID’s.
If you only have 1 profile ID showing there, please also provide your 17 digit Steam ID, as this may also help find the original account it was linked to.
You can find this on your Steam profile page. There will be a URL link near the top. The Steam ID will be the 17 digits at the end of the link.
